Background: The
risk landscape facing non-life insurers is changing rapidly.
Natural catastrophes are becoming increasingly complex
to assess, while cyber threats are evolving into risks that can spread across
industries, geographies, and entire portfolios. What were once considered
low-frequency or highly remote events can now create significant financial,
operational, and capital impacts.
For insurers, the challenge is no longer simply to
identify these risks, but to understand how extreme losses can develop, how
reliable our risk estimates really are, and how those insights should inform
underwriting, capital, reinsurance, and risk management decisions.
This is particularly relevant for the Thai non-life
insurance industry, where catastrophe risk is receiving increasing attention
alongside evolving regulatory expectations, PML assessment, reinsurance
adequacy, and the growing exposure to both natural and digital threats.
At the same time, cyber risk is moving beyond
traditional IT security. The rise of ransomware, AI-enabled threats,
interconnected technology platforms, and systemic dependencies is challenging
insurers to think differently about accumulation, tail risk, and the boundaries
of insurability.
Non-Life Insurance Forum 2026 brings
together leading experts and insurance professionals to explore how the
industry can better understand, quantify, and manage extreme risks — from
physical catastrophes to systemic cyber events.
Because
in the Age of Extreme Risk, the next catastrophe may not look like the last
one.
The
SOAT is pleased to be once again hosting this event, which will take place on
29 October. Non-Life Insurance Forum qualifies for (CAS / Actuaries Institute
Australia / IFoA / SOA) Continuing Professional Development (CPD). A maximum of
